Barrio La Hoya Safe Water

Donate to Share Hope

With a population of approximately 2,500 people, Barrio La Hoya suffers from a severe lack of clean water. In Olancho, an average of 44.06% of people living in communities like Barrio La Hoya do not have access to clean water. In some cases, women and children must walk for water, while in other communities, water is piped to their homes, but it is untreated – coming directly from streams, rivers, or mountain springs.

The Safe Water Honduras Barrio La Hoya project seeks to provide sustainable access to safe water for the impoverished community of Barrio La Hoya and its 2,500 residents. Through this project, a water treatment system will be installed to purify and produce safe, clean water. Furthermore, this project will implement Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) training for the community to ensure that the people of Barrio La Hoya know the best strategies to stay clean and healthy.
