A massive 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck the coast of Haiti Saturday morning causing immense destruction and killing at least 1200 people while leaving hundreds injured or missing.
History Repeats
The 7.0 magnitude earthquake that devastated Haiti in 2010 caused more than 200,000 deaths and struck only 46 miles east of Saturday’s earthquake.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) issued a red alert for fatalities from Saturday’s quake, saying that a high number of casualties are likely, and the destruction is expected to be widespread. The USGS went on to warn of the possibility of significant landslides.
